What is an ePub?
  • a document that is readable on different devices that you can adjust font size and fits on different screens
  • ePub files will show up under books in the iBooks app on an iPad
  • Compare to a pdf - you can't zoom in and resize
  • You can embed pictures
  • You can resize font and will automatically repaginate
  • You have to stick with standard fonts

ePub files must be done in Word Processing section of Pages NOT Page Layout

When editing ePub, make sure to go to View - Show Styles Drawer

Inspector window is how you drive changes to the text, etc.

Go to Dave's website to learn more about the Inspector window and where everything is located on each -- Page Inspector Layout Handout -- under iWorks tab

search.creativecommons.org (great place to find music, photos, etc. without worrying about copyright issues)

When adding graphics make sure they are inline NOT floating.

To get your ePub on your iPad you have to Share/Export it. Select ePub. Give it a title. Check the box for the first page as a book cover. Click where you are going to Export. A warning may appear, don't worry about this. It's just a disclaimer.
